Complications of sinusitis and warning signs for urgent care.
Most sinusitis clears without problems. Complications are uncommon, but they can be serious when the infection spreads beyond the sinuses. Early treatment and attention to warning signs reduce the risk.
Chronic sinusitis Acute inflammation that does not settle can become chronic sinusitis, with long-term blockage, facial pressure, loss of smell and poor sleep. Nasal polyps may form.

Effects on daily life
Related conditions Ear infections, asthma flare-ups, sore throat and cough from post-nasal drip.
Higher-risk groups People with diabetes, weak immunity, children with enlarged adenoids and those with a history of nasal polyps or structural problems.
Ayurvedic view (interpretive) Texts mention that neglected head and nose disease can become chronic and affect the senses. This is a conceptual parallel and does not replace medical care.
When to get urgent help Seek care immediately for swelling around the eye, vision changes, severe headache, stiff neck, confusion, drowsiness or a very high fever.
Remember See a doctor early if sinus symptoms do not improve in ten days.
