Eating well before, during and after stomach cancer treatment.
Diet cannot treat stomach cancer, but eating well before, during and after treatment protects strength, supports healing and eases symptoms. Needs change with each stage of care, and a dietitian's help is valuable.
During investigation and before treatment
During chemotherapy or radiation
After stomach surgery (gastrectomy)
Food safety With low immunity during chemotherapy, eat well-cooked food and avoid raw or unpasteurized items.
Traditional notes Light, warm, easily digested food fits both traditional advice and modern guidance during treatment.
Ayurvedic view (interpretive) Dietary support is compatible with cancer care but is not a treatment. No food or fasting regimen cures cancer.
When to see a doctor Ongoing weight loss, vomiting that prevents eating, or signs of dehydration. Call 112 for severe bleeding or collapse.
Remember Small, frequent, protein-rich meals and a dietitian's guidance protect strength through treatment.
