Walking and gentle yoga support weight and digestion but do not dissolve gallstones. Know what to avoid and when to stop.
Yoga and exercise cannot dissolve gallstones. They support healthy weight, digestion and general wellbeing, which lowers the risk of forming new stones. Move gently and stop if you feel pain.
When to avoid exercise
Do not exercise during an attack of pain, or if you have fever, jaundice or vomiting. Seek medical care instead. Check with your doctor before restarting after gallbladder surgery, usually after a few weeks.

Key points
Building up slowly
Start with 10 minutes a day and add a few minutes each week. A trained instructor can adapt poses to your fitness, weight and any surgery you have had. Drink water and avoid exercising right after a heavy meal.
Wear comfortable clothing, warm up gently and cool down with slow breathing after each session.
