Treat the confirmed deficiency with the specific vitamin at the right dose - multivitamins and megadoses do not cure deficiency.
Vitamin products range from sensible single-nutrient tablets to needlessly exotic blends. The principles: treat the confirmed deficiency, at the right dose, for the right duration.
Single-vitamin products (preferred when a deficiency is confirmed):
Multivitamins: reasonable as a low-dose safety net for people with restricted diets, but they contain too little of any vitamin to correct a true deficiency, and folate-containing blends can mask B12 deficiency. They are not a treatment.
What to avoid: megadose products marketed for energy, hair or immunity; imported 'high-potency' A and D capsules taken without testing; injections without prescription; and stacking multiple products (a multivitamin plus single vitamins plus fortified drinks) - doses add up. Vitamin injections and IV 'vitamin drips' at spas have no proven benefit for healthy people and carry real risks.
Special situations: TB treatment needs B6; metformin users need B12 monitoring; post-bariatric patients need lifelong supervised supplementation; pregnancy needs folate, D and iron-calcium as prescribed - not self-chosen blends.
Ayurvedic view (interpretive): herbal and mineral tonics are traditionally used for debility within an interpretive framework; quality varies, some bhasma products carry heavy-metal risk, and none replaces a confirmed vitamin. Adjunct only.
Remember: test, then treat with the specific vitamin at a prescribed dose and duration. Multivitamins don't cure deficiency, and more is not better - A and D overdose genuinely harms.

Varied food and sunlight for everyone; targeted supplements for pregnancy, vegetarians, the elderly and certain medicines.
Ayurveda supports diet, digestion and recovery around vitamin deficiency - but cannot supply the missing vitamin itself.
Test first, replace the specific vitamin fully, fix the cause, and recheck - feeling better is not the finish line.
Pregnancy needs folate always and B12 for vegetarians; children need D and varied food; the elderly need D, B12 and fall protection.
A varied Indian plate with light cooking and midday sun covers nearly every vitamin - B12 needs dairy, eggs or supplements.
Deficiency moves from silent empty stores to permanent damage - stages 1 to 3 are fully reversible.
