Throat exercises, yoga and pranayama that may reduce snoring.
Exercise and breathing practices can reduce snoring, mainly by lowering weight, improving nasal breathing and toning the muscles of the upper airway. They work best for simple snoring and as support alongside medical treatment.
Helpful activities
Yoga and pranayama
How to practise
What they cannot do Yoga cannot fix a deviated septum, large tonsils or sleep apnea. Loud snoring with pauses needs a sleep test and medical treatment.
Ayurvedic view (interpretive) These practices are traditionally said to reduce Kapha and strengthen Prana flow. The framework is interpretive; evidence for throat exercises is promising but modest.
Safety Stop and seek care for chest pain, severe breathlessness or dizziness. Call 112 for emergencies.
Remember Daily throat exercises, breathing practice and regular exercise can reduce simple snoring, but they do not replace a sleep test when apnea is possible.
