Gas problems grouped by source: swallowed air, fermentation and disease-related gas.
Flatulence is not a disease with strict types, but gas problems can be grouped by their source. This helps in finding the cause and the right fix.

By how it behaves
Ayurvedic classification
Ayurveda describes gas-related complaints under terms such as adhmana (distension with gas), anaha (obstruction with distension) and (upward movement of Vata). These are traditional ideas and do not map exactly to modern types.
In special groups
A doctor can help work out which type applies to you, especially if symptoms are new or persistent.
